Michele Rizzo (IT)
Michele Rizzo (°1984, Italy) graduated in 2011 at the School for new Dance Development in Amsterdam (SNDO), where he is now a guest teacher in choreography and movement research, and in 2015 at the Sandberg Instituut Amsterdam in the Dirty Art Department Master program for visual arts.
Michele’s research operates at the crossover between performance and visual art, and produces performances with high visual impact, that merge sculpture, dance and theatre elements. Although all his works are united by a distinctive interest into the poetics of transformation, becoming and transcending, the outcomes of such multidisciplinary approach often crystallize in very different performances. Previous performances: HIGHER (2015) and Spacewalk (2017)
Michele Rizzo (IT): Deposition
DEPOSITION is a term borrowed from physics, which refers to the process of turning volatile material into solid matter. In this solo performance, artist and interpreter Michele Rizzo exposes this process of crystallization in which the different components of the performance are converging towards each other. There, it is the gaze that is central. This immaterial extension of the body, projected from the doors of imagination onto the world, and connecting us with spaces afar. Starting from trance-like minimal movements, Michele proposes a dance between the acts of evading and grasping. Directing his own gaze and that of the spectator.
DEPOSITION is the third chapter in a trilogy, and is preceded by HIGHER and SPACEWALK. As in the first and second chapter, image and sound are key elements in the performance.
