Juan Dominguez (ES): Thalamus
Thalamus is the second part of the trilogy entitled There is no present, better to look back.
It breaks away from the first piece of the trilogy, My only memory, a choreography-score, text-verbal, that the spectator listened to in the darkness of the theatre. In the last 7 minutes of the piece, after being dedicated exclusively to listening, the spectator begins to visually sense something very subtle in the scene, a barely imperceptible image. In these last 7 minutes, the voice was silenced to give way to the image proposed as a singular mixture: part vision, part projection, part imagination. The end of that work is the beginning of this one. Thalamus takes those last 7 minutes of My only memory to its ultimate consequences... It is about looking once more for an active physical state of the one who is looking, working with and from the darkness, with and from the loss of references, in the undefined limits between the legible and the unlegible. To provoke the need for orientation, understanding, recognition and resignification of what is intuited without knowing exactly what is being seen. In that state the brain is activated in an unusual way and the production of meaning and feeling is projected and grows exponentially. Then, light and imagination make the image appear.
