Fairuz Ghammam (BE/TN) & Martine Labaere (BE)

Fairuz studied experimental film and works as an editor, cinematographer, filmmaker and teacher. She wonders how to change the world and hopes to find an answer as soon as possible. Fortunately, she grew up with the knowledge that patience is the key to happiness. On an irregular basis she works for the Brussels production and distribution platform Auguste Orts.

Martine Labaere is a retired employee who divides her time between Belgium and Tunisia, which she considers to be her second homeland. She collects everything she finds on the street and on the beach, mainly in Mahdia (birthplace of her husband - the father of Fairuz). The collection currently consists of spoons that have been driven flat, stones with a hole in them, pieces of faïences and driftwood.

The project that will be worked on during the short residency in BUDA is still in an embryonic phase. What is certain is that the material will be spatialized and an investigation will start into the possibilities of activating the collection in interaction with an audience.
