Dounia Mahammed: w a t e r w a s w a s s e r
At BUDA she will be creating a new solo: w a t e r w a s w a s s e r.
w a t e r w a s w a s s e r is an intimate encounter with an audience. It is a performance about paying attention to the here and now, and to who and what surrounds us. After all, we live at a time without time to take time, whereas it is time that makes things meaningful, important. In these fast and furious times, Dounia encourages us to pause, to allow emptiness to exist and observe anew from that emptiness. What she hopes to evoke is curiosity about others, a desire for a better understanding of each other.
Dounia found inspiration in Zen Buddhism, taoism, tea rituals and the stilled, poetical work of the German artist Wolfgang Laib.
