Caterina Mora (AR/CL): The translatress’ note: dance in transoceanic translation
This project attempts to continue the lecture-performance series based on translation from ballet to reggaeton. For this residency, the project will engage the figure of the “translatress”, inspired by the 17th century female author Aphra Behn, who worked as spy for King Charles II in Belgium. Using poetry and desire as strategies to reclaim self-autonomy, Behn (and this project) emphasize the uses of “vulgar languages” for authorship criticism and claim of the non-original creation.
