Nicole Beutler (DE/NL)
Nicole Beutler (Munich, 1969) lives and works in Amsterdam as choreographer and theatremaker. After studies of Fine Arts at Münster and München Arts Academies, she came to study Dance and Choreography at the SNDO in Amsterdam where she graduated in 1997. Her work is situated on the threshold of dance, performance and visual arts. She refers in her contemporary work often also to the history of dance and theatre. She engages in works with amateurs and professionals, old and young. Her performances are composed with a high sense for musicality, and suffused with subtle humor. NBprojects realises the artistic and curatorial projects of Nicole, often in collaboration with other artists and institutions.
Nicole has been working at BUDA before, co-creating Cadavre Exquis (2012) with Kassys, Nature Theater of Oklahoma and Tim Crouch.
Beginning 2017 Nicole is working on 7: TRIPTYCHON, the third and final part of her ‘Bauhaus-trilogy’ on geometric geometric shapes – this time taking the triangle as a starting point.
In our Western (Christian) culture the triangle and number three often have a spiritual reference, e.g. in the Holy Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Nicole creates a feminist, pagan alternative: the female triad maiden, mother and crone.
Premiere: Julidans 2017 (Amsterdam)
